[Ever since Estelle returned from her kidnapping, Patty’s been spending most of her time locked in her room. She’d go back to wandering around the enclosure like before, but she doesn’t want to leave the Princess alone. Not now there’s no one else left from their world but Alexei.

Her gaze falls on the gift that ‘Santa Claus’ gave her. The Maris Stella. A thing she’d been searching for all her life, but which suddenly seems so worthless. It’s just another trinket now. Carefully, she opens her journal.]

Ahoy, Luceti! I’m feeling more bored than a fish in a barrel, so here’s to hoping you all have some interesting stories to share. Tell me about the most valuable treasures in your world! Those things of legend that everyone’s searching high and low for, ya know.

[About an hour after putting up her entry, Patty goes to knock on Estelle’s door. She’s a little hesitant about what she’s going to do, but ever since the old man left, she’s been feeling increasingly frustrated about this.]

[Estelle is reading when she hears Patty knock on the door. Marking her place in the book, she stands an grabs her notepad and pen before opening the door. She smiles warmly to her friend and tilts her head questioningly.]

[Patty will grin right back, placing her hands on her hips.]

Hey Estelle! How are you feeling today?

What powers my world, blastia. Without them society wouldn't function the way it does now, but they are a scarce resource here. The knowledge of how to create them was lost long ago and only the privilege few can use what there is left....So I suppose our "legendary" treasure is finding a solution to our energy problems so that it can be freely disperse for everyone's use without exhausting it.

... Well, she guesses she can be a little more courteous to him.]

Mhmm, mhmmm. So what do you think is the best solution? Finding a way to make limitless blastia or finding a different energy source?

[Well he's pleased to be having a conversation this time around.]

That's...hard to say. Limitless blastia would probably be the better solution, because it is something we know, something we're already familiar with. Introducing a new energy source might solve the blastia scarcity, but it would take time to convert and adjust to the new power source. And is that energy source limitless? There are benefits and problems to both ideas really, so the real question is, what will we discover to do first?

[...He has to stop there for a moment. He's talking to a "child" here. Would she even get most of this? Or care?]

Well, if it's a key, that means it opens something, right? Maybe it's the key to a chest that holds an even bigger treasure, ya know!

No, it's not like that. It's important because it... [ and she trails off, trying to remember. For all her being the guardian of the Fon Master, she was taught veeery little of how the religion actually worked. ] I think it was a present from Lorelei.

Yeah, fish is a good treasure! It's healthy seafood! [Just like squid, but she knows better than to mention that in front of someone who has an octopus for their journal snapshot doohickey.]

You know, a very strong man in our world, who created the moon and everything, had various legendary treasures that could be used in battle to do a legendary amount of things. The strength of these items, together, has yet to be duplicated. However, using them is very difficult because of the energy it takes up to use them - to the point where if you use any of these items for too long, you die. [ Now that she's drawn her in with a hook, she'll wait for her to respond to this before continuing. ]

Really? They're that powerful? What sort of things can you do with 'm? Can you make yourself grow really big, like a giant?

No, no, nothing like size changing, that's a jutsu that's specific to a clan. But, this has things but a legendary fan that can use every element and in large swaths too. Just a swing of it can alight an entire forest in flames! It's called the Bashosen! Then, there's the Benihisago, where, if a specific ritual is completed, if a person says the word they've said the most in their life, they will be trapped in the gourd forever, but, if they say nothing at all, they're still trapped! [ Wait, that just sounds scary but cool.... ]

[Jack is still grinning when he answers the broadcast. Luceti at large has been hailed by a pirate in blonde pigtails. Maybe some denizens have pickier standards, but for Jack, that's more than enough to brighten his day.]

Well, the world I come from is a bit of a mess at the moment. So all of our treasures are things that are pretty ordinary here. Even something like ice cream - heck, that would be a miracle for the people there.

[Patty would be delighted to know she brightened someone's day just by being here, but as it stands she feels a little bad over a world where even ice cream is a miracle.]

Really? What happened? Was it a war? Or an invasion of monsters?

[Ooh, hell, how does he explain this to a kid. Jack hesitates briefly before replying, doing his best to keep the tone optimistic.]

It was a disease, actually. One that turns people into monsters, and makes it so they can't be turned back. We'll have to rebuild a lot of things. But, we are making some progress! There are plenty of brave people working hard on that every day.

[Ah, now this is an entry Norma can definitely get behind. Tell a story about your world's rarest and most valuable treasure? Pshaw! Easy-breezy. But then, as Norma reads through some of those responses, she feels a little more serious about this.

So rare that they'll call anyone who believes it exists a fool, ya know!

Oh, she knows. Norma knows very well how people who give up, who don't believe, who've stopped trying think and act. Because it's difficult, impossible, maybe, they see anyone trying to pursue a challenge like that as insane, imbecilic. They ridicule you just for having an immeasurable goal, and trying your hardest to reach the top. People who've given up already. Tch...

But then, it's not really about the treasure itself, it's about the journey. Traveling all over the world with your companions to uncover the mystery and prove those naysayers wrong!

Heh. This kid's got it right. Norma used to be about the treasure - she'd do anything and betray anyone to get her hands on it - but now she knows better. It's not all about crossing the finish line, it's getting there that counts. It's about losing your way, going way off track, crashing and burning even. It's about having the courage and resolve to keep going.]

The solidified essence of the voice of the sea - a gem that's said to grant wishes, any wish at all. That's the Everlight.

[This response captured Patty's interest immediately. The 'voice of the sea'... And it's solidified into a gem somehow! And grants wishes! She'd give up the Maris Stella in a heartbeat to get her hands on something like that. There's a dozen questions she wants to ask, so a few of them make their way to her vocal chords in rapid procession.]

That sounds amazing! How was it solidified? Is it common in your world to say the sea has a voice? Has anyone actually seen it?

[Norma grins broadly at the plethora of questions, chuckling quietly to herself as she gets comfortable. Aah...she doesn't get much of a chance to tell her story, so this is a really rare treat. A liking for treasure, and for adventure - this kid's already a-okay in her book.]

Well, to be honest no one really knows how it was solidified. But there've been theories and legends stating that the essence of Nerifes - the deity the people of the water worship - is what's inside the Everlight. Just a tiny piece of it, though. Like it split itself to form the jewel that grants wishes. No one really know how or why, it just exists.

Second - yep! The voice of the sea is as true and real as you and me back home where I'm from. The planet's made up almost entirely of water, so obviously there's gotten be a real powerful ocean god to rule it, right? That'd be Nerifes! Depending on its mood, it can be a real sweetie, too. Gave me and the Fun Gang a heck of a power boost to stop its kinda, uh..."mean" side. That's sacred eres - or magic. I've only ever used them once before.

And if you're talking about seeing the Everlight, then yes. Someone has seen it. And found it, actually! A really brave, smart, beeeaaauuutiful someone~!

Really depends on the game. Most games, including mine? The hero gets a medal. But other games can be real creative with their treasures.

A medal for a hero, huh? Isn't that more like a reward for the winner than a treasure? And anyway, I'm not talking about games, I'm talking about real stuff, ya know!
